Senior Compliance Officer (Sanctions)

  • Advises the Group on the implementation of the Global Sanctions Policy and monitors legal and regulatory developments
  • Supports the application of sanctions laws and regulations as well as relevant sanctions programmes and implementation of specific measures at Head Office and throughout the Group
  • Exchanges with local Compliance units across Group affiliates to ensure know-how transfer regarding policy decisions, controls, and material developments
  • Defines and handles clients with sanctions nexus and conducts materiality assessment for making a decision on relevant risk aspects
  • Fosters the setup and procedure of the centralized message sanctions screening filter tool and name searching in respect to sanctions lists
  • Supports or leads projects and performs quality assurance, business testing of applications and respective end-to-end processes
  • Assists the definition and coordination of the regular reporting duties of local Compliance to Head Office
  • Contributes to the reporting to senior management and relevant governing bodies and case tracking and monitoring, including management information as well as key indicators
  • Prepares and implements internal guidelines, alerts, and control descriptions through different communication channels
  • Provides advise and conducts training for 1st and 2nd line of defense
  • Interacts with counterparties, authorities, and peers within the financial sector’s network
  • Support team as center of competence in performing daily tasks

Requirements

  • University degree (Bachelor or Master), preferable in Economics, Legal, Audit, or Finance, another higher education with a strong career development or completed bank apprenticeship in the financial sector with corresponding further education
  • 3-8 years of professional experience, preferably in Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Operations, Markets or other (control) functions with experience and knowledge in Sanctions
  • Readiness to work in a rapidly changing environment and willingness to learn
  • A team player with a strong personality who provides practical solutions, completes tasks independently, efficiently, reliably and with the necessary quality
  • Very good organizational, operational, analytical and communication skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Exhibition of sound judgment and strong sense of integrity and discretion
  • Fluent written and spoken language skills in German and English, knowledge of further languages is an advantage
  • Flair for IT and other information utility or database know-how is another advantage
